I've been in a reading slump!
I'm not exactly certain why, but many of the books I've picked up in 2014 have just failed to enthrall me. I'm not accustomed to this lackluster relationship with books and I'm finding it quite unnerving.
Back in 2012, I was so proud of myself for reading 50 books within a year. Sure a few were novellas, but others were longer than average, so I felt like everything evened out. Plus, many of the books were so good I was recommending them to friends over and over. A few I'm still recommending. Namely Old Man's War, Feed, World War Z, and Gone Girl. Two years later, and I cannot tell you how many books I've picked up, read a few chapters from, and then returned to the library. 2014 has been a maddening reading year for me!
For the past few months, I've done very little novel reading. On the positive side, I feel quite up-to-date with current events since I have been reading newspapers and several magazines. However, I want 2015 to be the year that I break this slump.
I saw this 2015 Reading Challenge from PopSugar on Pinterest, and I thought this challenge might be just the thing to inspire me! I'm interpreting the challenge as 52 books, maybe less. Several of the categories can and will cross over, so I think reading 52 books is achievable since I may be able to maneuver a few around. For instance, I may cry while reading a memoir, so I could either check off one box or two.

This reading journey should prove pretty interesting. As I kick off my reading extravaganza in 2015, I'll be referencing several of the book lists I've collected on Pinterest. However, I'd love recommendations too! If you've got a great book that fulfills one of the more niche categories, please leave a comment below.
